ATU Accomplishments
ATU Has Achieved Historic Victories for Secure and Safe Roadways
ATU has successfully championed Four landmark policies that protect the men and women who keep America’s economy moving, while helping spark a growing national movement advancing at both state and federal levels. We give thanks for God’s provision and the hard work of our team as we continue working to make our roads safer and our industry stronger.
President Trump’s Executive Order: Enforcing Commonsense Rules of the Road For America’s Truck Drivers
On April 28, 2025, President Donald J. Trump signed a transformative Executive Order, “Enforcing Commonsense Rules of the Road for America’s Truck Drivers,” a direct result of ATU’s faithful advocacy. This order mandates strict enforcement of English proficiency for commercial drivers, ensuring truckers can read signs, communicate with authorities, and handle emergencies safely. It also requires an audit of non-domiciled commercial driver’s licenses to eliminate fraud and uphold licensing integrity. God used ATU to bring these critical issues to the White House, answering the prayers of truckers nationwide. As President Trump affirmed, this order is a “non-negotiable safety requirement” that honors our truckers and protects American lives.
Governor Stitt Signs the Secure Roads and Safe Trucking Act of 2025
On May 28, 2025, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt signed the Secure Roads and Safe Trucking Act (SB20) into law, making Oklahoma the first state to enshrine these vital safety standards. Born from ATU’s advocacy, this legislation ensures commercial drivers meet rigorous English proficiency requirements and that licensing processes are secure and transparent. This law safeguards Oklahoma’s families and sets a powerful example for the nation.
As Senator Sacchieri declared, this victory protects Oklahoma’s highways and affirms states’ rights to prioritize safety.
Secretary Duffy issues Non-Domicile CDL Integrity Final Rule
On September 26, 2025 the USDOT issued an emergency rule overhauling Non Domicile CDL issuance. Sean Duffy announced that Non-US Citizens will be ineligible in obtaining CDLs under and emergency rule unless they meet a stricter set of regulations.
Some of the stricter rules require non-citizen applicants to provide an unexpired foreign passport and an unexpired Form I-94/I-94A to prove their lawful presence in the country. Acceptable documents include H2-B, H2-A and E-2 visas, the department said.

Broker Liability - Supreme Court of the United States - Montgomery vs Caribe
On May 14, 2026 the Supreme Court of the United States voted unanimously that brokers do not have immunity
“This ruling clearly recognizes that highway safety demands full accountability from every participant on our nation’s roadways.
For years, an unfair ecosystem was allowed to flourish because certain profiteers operated behind a shield of presumed immunity. This imbalance pitted Main Street trucking companies against Wall Street freight brokers, undermining fair competition, costing countless American trucking jobs, devastating responsible trucking companies, and contributing to an untold number of preventable deaths on our highways.
Today, Main Street America has prevailed in this critical battle. The Supreme Court’s decision levels the playing field, strengthens safety for all, and delivers a major victory for hardworking American truck drivers and the communities they serve. We celebrate this historic win as one of the most impactful steps toward restoring integrity, fairness, and accountability in the U.S. trucking industry.”
A Testament to Faith and Unity
These victories are a testament to God’s power, working through American Truckers United to protect our truckers, our communities, and our country. We humbly thank President Trump, Governor Stitt, Secretary Duffyand our supporters for joining us in this mission. These achievements will pave the way for a safer, stronger future for America’s truckers.
